“Welcome to the Moscow Polytech Family!”: How the Freshman Initiation Ceremony Went
Moscow Polytech has held its traditional freshman initiation ceremony. More than 3,000 first-year students gathered at Moscow’s Base club to officially become part of the university’s large and friendly community. The ceremony featured inspiring speeches from the university leadership, federal government representatives and industry partners, a formal student oath and a vibrant musical finale. The freshmen also received campus cards — a symbol of their new status.
Following a long-standing tradition, the ceremony was opened by Moscow Polytech Rector Vladimir Miklushevsky, who encouraged the first-year students to be bold in discovering themselves and gaining new knowledge.
“Today marks the beginning of one of the most exciting periods of your lives — your student years. This is the time to try new things, discover yourself and, of course, dream. I am glad that you have chosen Moscow Polytech for this journey. May this year be filled with discoveries, new knowledge and unforgettable experiences. Create, dare and dream. Welcome to the Moscow Polytech family!” said Rector Vladimir Miklushevsky.
In their response, first-year students Alexey Gorshkov and Arina Timofeeva thanked their parents, academic advisors, tutors and everyone who had supported them from their first days at the university.
“We believe that new acquaintances, memorable moments, friends and mentors are waiting for us ahead. We will take every opportunity to develop our potential. People often say that your student years are the best time of your life. Well, now it is our turn to find out what that really means,” said first-year students Alexey Gorshkov and Arina Timofeeva.
Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, also addressed the students. She congratulated them on the beginning of a new chapter in their lives and emphasized the importance of the university years in becoming well-rounded professionals.
“I would like to congratulate you on the beginning of a new stage in your lives. Being a Moscow Polytech student is truly something to be proud of. I am confident that you have an active, exciting and eventful student life ahead of you, filled with a wide range of opportunities. This is a new stage — a period of growth that will allow each of you to become a professional: a skilled, versatile and well-rounded specialist,” said Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Irina Patrusheva, Head of Youth Engagement at Sberbank, joined the congratulations, noting that the first-year students were fortunate to become part of Moscow Polytech.

There are many great things ahead. Knowing the university’s leadership and team, I can say with confidence that you are very fortunate to become part of the large Moscow Polytech family. I wish you every success!” said Irina Patrusheva, Head of Youth Engagement at Sberbank.
Moscow Polytech postgraduate student and blogger Evgeniy Spiryakov shared some practical advice. He encouraged the freshmen not to hesitate to ask questions and reminded them of the responsibility that comes after their student years.

The celebration marking the beginning of the new academic year concluded with performances by the evening’s headliners — the cover band Nestroynye and Moscow Polytech graduate Basya Troshanina (DJ Barbara). The artists set the mood for an exciting new academic year.
