Participants of the Moscow Polytech Summer Internship for foreign students, organized by the University’s International Office, visited the RT (Russia Today) newsroom. The tour, specially arranged for students fr om different countries, gave them a unique opportunity to see how one of the world’s leading international news broadcasters operates. They explored the newsroom, television studios, and control rooms wh ere news content is produced daily for millions of viewers worldwide.
The tour was led by Ekaterina Mokeeva, Head of RT’s Partnership Relations Department, who introduced the students to the entire content production process - from the initial idea to a live broadcast. The participants observed presenters, producers, directors, and camera operators at work in real time, gaining first-hand insight into the daily operations of an international television network.
A highlight of the visit was a meeting with renowned British journalist and TV presenter Rory Suchet, who has been working for RT International for the past 15 years. Before joining RT, he spent many years in the United States, including working for CNN. Throughout his career, he has covered some of the world’s most significant events, including the Iraq War, the Arab Spring, launches from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, and the Sochi Olympic Games.
Rory warmly spoke with the students, asking each of them wh ere they had come fr om to study at Moscow Polytech. He noted that it was inspiring to see representatives of so many different cultures studying together at a Russian university and wished them every success in their academic journey.
“I really enjoyed the visit - it was truly fascinating. My father works as a journalist in my home country, Bangladesh, so it was especially interesting for me to compare how the media operates in different countries. I had also never seen how television works behind the scenes. What impressed me most was the large newsroom, wh ere journalists constantly monitor current events and prepare news reports,” said Anik, a second-year Moscow Polytech student and participant of the Summer Internship.
In addition to visiting the international television network, participants of the Summer Internship have already attended the ProDvizhenie Festival at VDNH, visited the State Museum of Oriental Art, and enjoyed a sightseeing cruise along the Moscow River.
The program will continue with a series of lectures and seminars, as well as a rich cultural agenda, including visits to the National Centre “Russia”, the Pushkin State Museum, Muzeon Arts Park, and a picnic at the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve.
