Moscow Polytech Holds Open Lecture on Legal Culture for International Students
The International Office of Moscow Polytech organized an open lecture dedicated to the important topic of promoting legal awareness and ethical values among international students.
The event aimed to support students’ personal development, social integration, and self-determination by fostering respect for socio-cultural and moral values, as well as the laws, rules, and standards of conduct adopted in Russian society.
The session was led by Alina Andrukh, Head of the International Directorate, together with invited guest speaker Mikhail Martyanov, Junior Lieutenant of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
During the lecture, participants discussed key aspects of living and studying in Russia, including migration documentation requirements, legal issues that international students may encounter, effective communication, common fraud schemes and how to avoid them, personal responsibility, and ways to preserve one’s own cultural identity while respecting the laws and traditions of the host country.
Mikhail Martyanov emphasized the importance of complying with Russian legislation, explained the legal responsibilities of foreign nationals, and shared practical advice on recognizing and avoiding common scams. Addressing the students, he concluded:
“Your primary goal here is to study. Do not become involved in suspicious activities or give in to provocation. Any violation of Russian law carries serious consequences, including criminal liability.”
At the end of the event, all participants received information leaflets containing practical guidance on the legal status of foreign nationals and recommendations for a safe and comfortable stay in Russia. The lecture formed part of Moscow Polytech’s ongoing efforts to support the successful integration of international students by promoting legal awareness, responsible citizenship, and mutual respect for cultural values.
