Moscow Polytech Speaking Club Explores Holidays and Traditions Around the World
Moscow Polytechnic University hosted a Speaking Club meeting dedicated to the holidays, legends, and traditions of cultures around the world. Russian and international students discussed the cultural features of different countries while practising Russian and English.
Participants shared how holidays are celebrated in their home countries and introduced one another to the history and meaning behind festive customs. The discussion highlighted how much a country’s traditions can reveal about it, from ancient legends to modern celebrations.
Exploring cultures and holidays provided a starting point for language practice. Russian students improved their spoken English, while international students practised Russian, developing their communication skills in an international group.
The Speaking Club is a project run by Moscow Polytech’s International Office. Its regular meetings bring together students who want to practise languages and learn more about other countries by talking to people from those countries.
The next meeting will take place on November 11 at 16:30 in Room A-100 at 38 Bolshaya Semyonovskaya Street. The topic will be “Education Without Borders: Universities, Knowledge, and International Experience.” Students will discuss higher education systems in different countries, approaches to learning, and opportunities to take part in research projects and internships.
