Moscow Polytech Wins All-Russian Competition of Student Self-Government in Dormitories

Moscow Polytechnic University has won two out of five possible awards in the All-Russian Competition for the Best Practice in Student Self-Government at University Dormitories. The University was recognized in the nominations "Best Practice in the Organization of the Student Self-Government System" and "Best Practice in the Organization of Cultural and Public Events, and Sports and Wellness Activities".

This year, the competition received more than 150 applications fr om almost 100 universities in 47 regions of the country. The teams that scored the highest number of points according to the expert commission's evaluation reached the final. The competition was held in three stages: application submission, documentary examination of works, and online project defense. The experts included representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, universities' vice-rectors, members of the Student Council under the Ministry, and federal experts in youth policy.

The finalist university teams will receive diplomas from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and invitations to the All-Russian Forum of Dormitory Student Councils, which will be held in Moscow in November.

Student self-government at Moscow Polytech dormitories is organized as a unified system of 11 dormitory student councils coordinated by the United Student Council, with the work distributed not between individual activists, but based on continuity and mentorship. The "Formation of Personnel Reserve" practice sets the entire annual cycle of activists' growth, from the involvement of first-year students to the "Obshchazhnik" Forum of Moscow Polytech’s Dormitory Student Councils, wh ere the best participants become mentors for the following year.

Background: the competition is held annually by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The objectives are to develop student self-government bodies, increase students' social activity and foster a more active approach to life, as well as support socially significant initiatives by student associations.
