Congratulations, best wishes, songs, dances and a smart-speaker giveaway — Moscow Polytech celebrated Knowledge Day. With a countdown, students and university staff symbolically launched the new academic year.
From the stage, the university’s rector, Vladimir Miklushevsky, greeted the students.
“Today is a wonderful day when the whole country celebrates Knowledge Day. This day is important both for those who continue their studies and, especially, for nearly 4,000 first-year students who have joined our family, the Moscow Polytech family, this year. A wonderful time awaits you all. It is called the best time, and I can confirm that. Student life is a time of new acquaintances, love, friendship and, of course, the acquisition of new knowledge. Friends, be bold, do not fear difficulties, and everything will work out for you!” said the head of the university.
The vocal ensemble and the Moscow Polytech Dance Laboratory brought the audience to their feet. Meanwhile, the event host, Timofey Chikhirin, a student of the Faculty of Information Technology and an extracurricular activities organizer, reminded everyone that cooperation with industry makes education at Moscow Polytech highly practical and in demand. For opening remarks he invited to the stage Erich Krause, Head of Educational Projects at the company, and Dr. Irina Vilkova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences.
“You have entered one of the country’s top universities,” she told the students. “Our company is engaged in a great project with Moscow Polytech — perhaps some of you will get involved in it. I wish you bold discoveries and an inexhaustible creative impulse. Only in this way will you be able to discover your new ‘self’ and move toward it. Good luck with every step you take!”
Yulia Fedotova, a student of the Faculty of Information Technology, winner of the all-Russian student project “Your Move” and finalist of the Russian national award “Student of the Year” in the “Media of the Year” category, said that Moscow Polytech has given her many pleasant moments, events, memories and people.
“I want your years at Moscow Polytech to become equally important and wonderful events in your lives, so today I will share some thoughts that may help you make this time memorable and interesting.”
Yulia noted that:
First, studying at university is not only about lectures and exams; it is also about new opportunities and discoveries. You should take part in extracurricular organisations, create your own projects and look for like-minded people. This is the time to find work for the soul, which can become a great hobby. That said, you must not forget about your studies.
Second, studying at university is not only about opportunities but also about new responsibilities. New tasks arise here — combining studies with work, extracurricular activities and various clubs. This is the time for growth and for developing the qualities you will need.
The student shared a phrase that motivates her to achieve new things:
“To achieve what you have never achieved, you may need to start doing what you have never done.”
On Knowledge Day, an exhibition of industrial partners was held for students, wh ere representatives of leading Russian companies such as Sberbank, Moskvich, Yandex, Kalashnikov Concern, the KAMAZ Innovation Centre and others told young people how they can undertake internships with them and even be employed. On site, students filled in application forms and received answers to their questions.
