Moscow Polytechnic University Prepares More Than 300 International Applicants for Admission to Russian Universities

Moscow Polytechnic University held a graduation ceremony for 310 students of its Preparatory Department for International Students representing more than 50 countries. Over the academic year, the students mastered the Russian language and completed foundation courses in their chosen fields of study. The knowledge they gained will enable them to continue their education in Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programmes at Russian universities.

The celebration brought together representatives of foreign embassies and distinguished guests from around the world.

Among the honoured guests were Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, and Md. Nazrul Islam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Russian Federation.

The ceremony was also attended by embassy representatives, including Fatima Sheikh, Counsellor of the Embassy of Pakistan; Mostofa Jamil Khan, Counsellor of the Embassy of Bangladesh; Asadullah Sarwary, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan; Alseny Diallo, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Guinea; Ahmet Gök, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye; and Elif Yağmur Urfalıoğlu, Education Officer at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye.

Among the University’s long-standing international partners were Aykut and Viktoriya Güler, who cooperate with Moscow Polytechnic University on educational projects in Türkiye; Wimalagunasekara Egoda Vitharanage Sriyanka Vimashan and Viktoriya Lysenko, partners in educational initiatives in Sri Lanka; Anora Matyusupova, the University’s long-term partner in Turkmenistan; Hafiz Basi, Chair of the Youth Commission of the Russia–Africa Club at Lomonosov Moscow State University; and Badibanga Yannick Tshibenda, Official Representative for Sister-City Cooperation between the city of Boma and Russian cities.

Congratulating the graduates, Yulia Davydova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, noted that the first year of study is always the most challenging.

“You have all done an excellent job. Not only did you master the Russian language, but you also distinguished yourselves through creativity, academic achievements, and student life. We are proud of each of you and wish you every success as you continue your studies at Moscow Polytechnic University. Good luck!” she said.

The distinguished guests also addressed the graduates with warm words of encouragement.

Ambassador of Bangladesh Md. Nazrul Islam shared his impressions:

“It is a great honour to be here with you today. Moscow Polytechnic University was one of the first universities I visited after arriving in Russia eleven months ago. I was deeply impressed by the University’s achievements and its genuine care for students. I am confident that its graduates have a bright future ahead. I would like to thank the University’s leadership and academic staff for their dedication. Your students are in excellent hands. And, of course, this is only the beginning, because Russia offers countless opportunities.”

Ambassador of Pakistan Faisal Niaz Tirmizi also congratulated the graduates:

“Dear graduates, dear teachers and friends, congratulations on this important milestone! This is only the beginning of your journey. The friendships you have made will stay with you throughout your lives, and the knowledge you have gained will be valued both in Russia and around the world. Cherish these opportunities and use them to make the world a better place.”

Asadullah Sarwari, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, thanked the University for the invitation and highlighted the importance of learning Russian:

“I would like to sincerely thank the leadership of Moscow Polytechnic University for inviting me to this wonderful celebration. Today marks the success of the graduates, who now have the opportunity to pursue higher education in Russian, one of the richest languages in the world. My advice is to continue studying Russian, especially the language of science and academia. Students are capable of achieving anything when they are given an opportunity, time, and support. I can confidently say that Moscow Polytechnic University has successfully fulfilled this mission.”

The evening became even more memorable thanks to the creative performances prepared by the students. Graduates of the Preparatory Department presented original songs and recited Russian poetry. Mariam Malaika from Pakistan performed Anna Akhmatova’s poem I Know You Are My Reward. Charith Pramoda Singhamahamudalige from Sri Lanka recited Sergey Yesenin’s I Remember, My Beloved, I Remember!. Einstein Tulani Mubemi from Zimbabwe gave a heartfelt reading of My Love, My Soul, Russia. Bayrammyrat Sakhy from Turkmenistan performed a song in his native language, while Zouman Keita from Mali captivated the audience with his original composition, accompanied by enthusiastic support from fellow students. Their performances demonstrated that university life is not only about academic studies but also about creativity, self-expression, and lasting friendships.

The certificate award ceremony was accompanied by musical performances. Alina Andrukh, Head of the International Office, presented certificates to active students as well as those with excellent and good academic results. Teachers of the Preparatory Department also received letters of appreciation.

“Today we have gathered to congratulate you, our dear graduates, on completing an important stage of your lives. It is a great honour for us to witness your first achievements in Russia,” said Alina Andrukh. “We sincerely thank the embassies for their trust and support, our teachers for their dedication, and our partners for many years of fruitful cooperation. This is a celebration for all of us, and we are delighted to share it with you.”

The celebration was both festive and heartfelt. Graduates enthusiastically participated in quizzes about Russia’s landmarks and scientific achievements, impressing the guests with their knowledge. The evening concluded with a slideshow entitled Our Year at Moscow Polytechnic University, featuring highlights from the students’ first year in Russia, including competitions, excursions, conferences, and cultural celebrations. The screen was filled with smiles, new discoveries, and the friendships that have already become an important part of each student’s journey.

The warm atmosphere of the celebration reinforced the graduates’ decision to continue their education at Moscow Polytechnic University. Aygozel Annanurbanova and Shakhribossan Dosiyeva from Turkmenistan have chosen to enrol in the Faculty of Economics and Management.

“We truly enjoyed studying at Moscow Polytechnic University. Our teachers are patient and explain everything clearly,” the students shared.

Zouman Keita from Mali said he is grateful to the University not only for the knowledge he gained but also for the opportunity to showcase his talents on stage.

“I enjoy living in Russia. I was happy not only to study at Moscow Polytechnic University but also to perform at university events. Now I plan to continue my studies in Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering,” he said.

For the graduates, the ceremony marked the completion of one important stage of their lives and the beginning of a new chapter in Russia.
