Moscow Polytech student present at Youth Innovation Summit in South Africa

Filip Karpushin, a student at the Moscow Polytech’s Advanced Engineering School of Technological Leadership (FDR), successfully presented a paper at the 4th BRICS+ Youth Innovation Summit 2026, held April 9–11 at Tshwane University of Technology (Pretoria, Tshwane), South Africa. His presentation was titled "Stages of Creation and Testing of the FDR12 Hybrid Racing Sports Prototype."

The summit, entitled "Youth-Led Innovation for Sustainable Development," brought together young innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, and experts from BRICS+ countries and the Global South to discuss the role of youth in sustainable development, global AI governance, and technological sovereignty. Keynote speaker Sindisiwe Chikunga, Minister for Women, Youth, and Disability, called on participants to shape AI governance standards, develop technologies, and strengthen social ties.

Presentation of the FDR School student Philipp Karpushin sparked interest among his colleagues thanks to his demonstration of practical experience developing a hybrid powertrain for a racing prototype—a project of the Moscow Polytech’s FDR Moscow engineering and racing team. This underscores the university's leadership in innovative hybrid technologies.

"I applied for the presentation competition and was selected for the summit. The university helped organize the trip and was always available to resolve any issues. For me, as a young scientist, student, and future engineer, the opportunity to attend a conference of this caliber is truly incredible. This is not just a chance to travel to the other side of the world and see the beauty of South Africa—it is a chance to connect with people who can teach me a lot! Such an experience is invaluable for any scientist."

Participation in the summit strengthens Moscow Polytechnic University's international ties and advances the team's expertise in hybrid racing technologies, opening up prospects for commercialization and collaboration with BRICS+ partners.
