Winners of the inter-university team Olympiad "Battle of Wits" have been announced
On May 19, at Moscow Polytech there were summed up the results of the sixth interuniversity intellectual teams Olympiad “Battle of Wits”. 14 teams competed for the victory, including 10 from Moscow Polytech and four from RTU MIREA. The organizer was the Department of Mathematics at the Basic Competences Faculty. The moderator was Mikhail Bogdanov, Associate Professor of the Department.
The competition included four rounds with four mathematical tasks each. Their complexity followed in ascending order. In addition, the time for each question was reduced: from one to five minutes. After each round, the jury announced interim results, and the teams’ representatives gave comments on solutions on the tasks. The moderator replied to questions of students, explained the task solutions.
The Jury included the following staff of the department: N. Vassilyeva, N. Malova, Z. Radjabov, A.Selyukov.
Following the results of the competition, the prize places were taken exclusively by the representatives of Moscow Polytech. Thus, the first line was shared between two teams at once – “Vector of Success” and “Not Knowing Victories”. In second place were “Little Oranges”, and the third position was taken by “Checkmate”.
As the organizers noted, the Olympiad was very lively and exciting, each student got positive emotions and expressed the wish to participate in future mathematical Olympiads. Representatives of the guest teams also noticed that they were pleasantly surprised, as for them this was a new format of intellectual mathematical competitions.
