Moscow Polytech Student Wins Prize at International Youth Science and Engineering Festival
Yelisey Yevseyev, a second-year student at Moscow Polytechnic University majoring in Engineering Software Development, has taken second place in the finals of the International Festival of Scientific and Technical Creativity for Children and Youth. The award ceremony was held on November 13 in Yekaterinburg.
Out of a thousand participants from across the country, more than 115 young inventors and engineers advanced to the final round. The qualifying stages took place in 16 cities across eight categories, ranging from robotics and drones to industrial design and logistics. Participants tackled real-world challenges based on requests from 39 major Russian companies, including Roscosmos and the United Engine Corporation.
Yelisey Yevseyev competed in the category titled "Applying the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) to Optimize Enterprise Production Processes."
The student was prepared by specialists from the university's industry partner, VR-Concept, as well as by mentors from Moscow Polytech's Project Activity Center, Anton Tolstikov and Ilya Lavrenenko.
"As part of the 'CAD Laboratory. VR-Concept' project, students develop software using virtual reality technologies. One of the tasks was to create an educational application on the topic of lean manufacturing. Yelisey developed a prototype that won the festival's qualifying round," said Anton Tolstikov. "The CAD Laboratory team develops engineering software in collaboration with major IT companies and consistently tests their developments at competitions and hackathons."
Winners and prize-awardees of the festival will receive internship offers from leading Russian companies and will be included in the talent pool of the country's major industrial enterprises.
Background: The festival is held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, and is organized by the Agency for Development of Professional Skills (WorldSkills Russia).
