International Students of Moscow Polytech Explore the History of the Apollo-Soyuz Mission
At Moscow Polytech, guests revisited the story of how space has the power to unite nations. The university invited its international students to an event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the legendary Apollo-Soyuz project. The meeting took place at the Art Polytech cluster as part of a thematic exhibition created in collaboration with VNIIDAD, RNARED, and the fund History of the Fatherland.
Leading experts in the history of space exploration and archival studies addressed the students: Marina Malyutina, Head of the Russian State Archive of Scientific and Engenering Documentation (RNARED) and Irina Grebenchenko, PhD in History. The speakers highlighted the historical significance of the EPAS program as a milestone of international dialogue and technological cooperation, and showcased unique RNARED archival materials related to the project.
Guests were able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of 1975 thanks to a specially prepared multimedia program. They viewed a modern 3D-model that accurately recreates the docking of the two spacecraft, as well as the archival film “The First International: Apollo-Soyuz”, which captures the key moments of this landmark mission.
The event concluded with an educational cosmonautics quiz, where students demonstrated impressive knowledge. The top ten participants received commemorative prizes from the organizers.
Moscow Polytech continues to support educational initiatives aimed at promoting Russia’s space heritage and achievements, while fostering cultural and academic integration among international students.
