Moscow Polytech Establishes Pilot Production Facility for Electronic Device Development and Assembly
The TASS (Russian news agency) reports on the launch of a contract development and assembly center for electronic devices at Moscow Polytech.
The center has been designed as a full-cycle manufacturing facility, spanning fr om technology audits and engineering documentation preparation to contract manufacturing of small- to medium-batch radio-electronic products. It is focused on real-world industrial tasks through a documented quality control that includes incoming component inspection, automated optical inspection, in-circuit and functional testing, and firmware installation. The production workflow incorporates automated assembly, DFM/DFT auditing, SMD and THT technologies, and a comprehensive range of control and testing operations.
The center will serve as the manufacturing base for the Advanced Engineering School of Technological Leadership FDR at Moscow Polytech. The school focuses on the development of electric transport, autonomous systems, and reverse-engineered automotive components. While the school has already been developing electronics for these projects – ranging from central control computers for autonomous vehicles to on-board devices – production has been limited to individual prototypes. The new facility will enable these capabilities to be scaled for serial production while making them available for external customers.
The center’s potential customers include R&D departments, technology startups, design bureaus, and industrial companies that need prototype batches, product refinement, or preparation for serial production. The product line is being developed across three directions: contract electronics development and production, manufacturing of proprietary radio-electronic products, and the joint development of SMT equipment with industrial partners. At the same time, the center will train industry specialists, including operators, technologists, and quality assurance engineers.
"Electronics is a new competency of Moscow Polytech, but we are not starting from scratch: our Engineering School already produces sophisticated devices, including central computers for autonomous vehicles. Industry today requires not just printed circuit boards, but verified quality, technical documentation, and end-to-end production control – this is the gap we are bridging. We are creating this center as an industrial partner, offering transparent technology, complete documentation, and serial-production quality available for any industry client. Our own university projects serve as a ground for refining this model and scaling it to the broader market," explained Georgy Akimov, Deputy Director of the Directorate for Scientific and Technological Development.
The launch aligns with the national strategy for technological sovereignty in radio-electronics industry. Demand for domestic solutions is steadily growing, while the market yet lacks full-cycle facilities capable of taking products from design documentation to a validated pilot production. Moscow Polytech sees a particular strong opportunity in the energy sector, wh ere the demand for local solutions remains unmet. In addition to manufacturing, the center will expand continuing professional education programs to train specialists for radio-electronics industry.
