This program is for those who want to do more than just write code, but create intelligent web systems capable of transforming products and entire industries. If you strive to combine engineering precision with the power of artificial intelligence, this is the place to turn those ambitions into a profession. The program is implemented in partnership with leading IT companies and is unique in the Russian educational space.
From the first semester, students study core disciplines—web technology fundamentals, programming fundamentals, digital design, and network technologies—and immediately begin project work. In the second and third years, the program deepens, focusing on algorithms and data structures, databases, server-side and client-side web development, and systems programming. Neural network technologies, machine learning methods, and mathematical methods of data analysis are added to the specialization. In their fourth year, students master distributed and high-load systems, software build and deployment technologies, modern web application development methods, web analytics, and web service design. They also take courses in natural language processing and expert systems. The curriculum is updated annually to reflect real-world industry requirements, and approximately 30% of the instructors are current professionals at leading IT companies.
Practical training is integrated into the curriculum from day one, with course projects to practice the knowledge and skills acquired in the current and previous semesters. By graduation, each student has completed at least eight projects and a comprehensive portfolio for employers. After their first year, students can already apply for positions as web designers or content managers, and after their second year, they can apply for junior developer positions at IT companies. The courses "Fundamentals of Technological Entrepreneurship" and "Entrepreneurial Management" teach students how to transform academic projects into fully fledged startups: test hypotheses, improve products, and enter the market quickly and consciously—with the support of the Project Center and industrial partners.
Research work, part of the curriculum during the senior years, allows students to delve into current problems in artificial intelligence and web engineering: from building neural networks and analyzing big data to developing expert systems and NLP solutions. Research results can form the basis of a final thesis and serve as a launchpad for a career in science or high-tech business.
A deep mathematical background—linear algebra, mathematical analysis, probability theory, and mathematical logic—combined with research competencies makes graduates strong candidates for master's programs in artificial intelligence, software engineering, data science, and computational linguistics—both at Moscow Polytechnic University and other leading technical universities in the country.
Graduates in this specialization will be in demand as full-stack developers, machine learning engineers, web systems architects, technical product team leaders, and development managers. They are in demand in IT companies, fintech startups, media platforms, retail, and government digital services—wherever next-generation intelligent products are being built. Cross-professional skills—systems thinking, data science, customer focus, and team project management experience—ensure career advancement not only as specialists but also as managers.
Students are divided into the "Web Development and Neural Network Technologies" and "Web Technologies and Product Design" tracks after four semesters of study. Based on the results of the first 12 streams of the "Web Technologies" track, it is at the midpoint of their studies that students make a conscious choice of which trajectory to pursue next.
