"Science of the Future is a Synthetic Science": Science-Art Summer School Completed at Moscow Polytech

Moscow Polytechnic University has summarized the results of its Science-Art-2026 summer school, organized by the Center for Technological Support of Education and the Engineering School (faculty) for 84 school students in grades 6–11. This year's theme was "Science of the Future is a Synthetic Science." Over the course of four days, schoolchildren immersed themselves in the atmosphere of high-end digital technologies and contemporary art, working to create their own original art objects.

The conceptual foundation of this year's school was the search for beauty in synthesis and synergy. Organizers emphasized that while modern science relies primarily on differentiation and integration (summation), a synergistic effect – where "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" – requires a different approach: synthesis. Participants were challenged to explore this science of the future, which is capable of investigating phenomena of synergy.

The program included two sections: theoretical lectures and practical project activities. The children attended introductory lectures on modern science and technology, learning about modern scientific and technological art and digital production. Subsequently, under the guidance of Moscow Polytech experts, the participants attended workshops on 3D modeling, additive technologies, 3D scanning, robotics, and mechatronics. In the final stage, the participants presented their own art objects, positioned at the intersection of science, art, and technology.
