Moscow Polytech Honors Winners and Prize-Winners of the "Science for Life" Forum
More than 3,300 school students from over 200 schools took part in the X Open City Scientific and Practical Conference "Science for Life," hosted by Moscow Polytech. By winning or placing among the prize recipients, high school students could earn up to 10 additional points, which can be taken into account when applying to Russian universities alongside their Unified State Exam (USE) results.
"You have all done an excellent job by already being able to present your exciting and innovative ideas embodied in projects to experts," Gyuzel Sharipzyanova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Moscow Polytechnic University, addressed the school students. "Not every university student can do that. At Moscow Polytech, project-based learning, project activities, and the project approach are taught from the first year. Believe me, if you never voice your idea, it will never come true. Here, you had the opportunity to communicate with experts, and it is extremely important to receive feedback from them at the early stages, which will help you grow as professionals in your chosen fields. I am proud that Russia has so many talented young people, because you are the ones who will advance science in our country. And, of course, I am proud that our University was entrusted by the Department of Education and Science of the City of Moscow with hosting this event."
Following the work of 17 thematic sections, 844 participants received awards: 197 of them became winners, and 647 were recognized as prize-winners.
According to Olga Pronskaya, Dean of the School of Engineering (Faculty) at Moscow Polytechnic University, the large number of participants and winners demonstrates both the high level of preparation and the significant interest in research activities among schoolchildren.
Participants presented reports and research projects in a wide range of fields, including astronomy, mathematics and cybernetics, Earth sciences, nanotechnology and materials science, molecular biology and biotechnology, economics, agricultural technologies, organic and inorganic chemistry, and many others.
Moscow Polytech also organized more than 20 workshops for school students, such as "Sopromat (Strength of Materials) Around Us: Why Don't Structures Fail?", "Data Hashing," "Cryptography Game," "Cyberdances," and others.
The winners and prize-winners received gifts from the University's industry partners, including Dogma, JSC "T-Bank", "Afanasy Holding", ErichKrause, JSC "Alfa-Bank", LLC "ROSMAN", LLC "Merkator Holding", PJSC "Rostelecom", and LLC "SPE "Itelma".
Background: The "Science for Life" conference has been held annually since 2017. Its primary goal is to provide an independent assessment of senior secondary school students' pre-professional knowledge and skills, while also offering them an opportunity to present applied practice-oriented projects and research, including work in the humanities.
