Bangladeshi Students Introduced Moscow Polytechnic Students and Staff to Their Home Country
An international roundtable discussion entitled “Discover Bangladesh” was held at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Moscow Polytechnic University. The event was organized by students fr om the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. All of them are enrolled in the programmes “International Business and Foreign Economic Activity” and “Innovative Marketing and PR”. Their parents also joined the event online.
“It all started with a simple thought: why are so many Bangladeshi students studying at a university located thousands of kilometers away fr om our homeland, while our country is still not properly represented here?” the students explained when speaking about the idea behind the event.
During the meeting, participants embarked on a fascinating journey through the history and culture of Bangladesh guided by the international students. They spoke about Bengal, a region with a rich historical heritage, presented modern Bangladesh, introduced guests to local family traditions, and shared insights into raising children in large families.
Particular interest was generated by the presentation of traditional and contemporary Bangladeshi clothing. The vibrant outfits gave guests a deeper understanding of the country’s cultural traditions and became one of the most memorable moments of the event.
The event concluded with a friendly tea gathering, where faculty members and Russian students had the opportunity to sample popular Bangladeshi sweets, including Shada Mishti and Balushahi Mishti.
According to the organizers, the primary goal of the event was to strengthen intercultural dialogue and promote mutual understanding among people of different cultural and religious backgrounds.
