Around 300 Moscow Polytech Students Participate in "CyberMoscow" Project Events

From May 30 to June 5, Moscow Polytech hosted a series of "CyberMoscow" sessions organised as part of the "Youth of Moscow" project by the Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy of Moscow. The main topic of discussion was cyber security and countering terrorism and extremism on the Internet.

The featured speaker was Robert Simonyan, Head of the Digital Development Department of the "CyberMoscow" project.

During lectures and interactive workshops, participants explored a range of topics, including:

  • Fact-checking and verifying the accuracy of news;
  • Recruitment methods used by organizations banned in the territory of the Russian Federation: protection and counteraction;
  • Creating a safe workspace on the Internet;
  • Blackmail through cyberattacks and attempts to coerce individuals into taking specific actions;
  • Digital hygiene and developing responsible online behavior;
  • Cyberterrorism and automated systems used to target young people;
  • Recruitment into financial pyramids exploiting misleading narratives (in some cases, can be linked to the financing of terrorism);
  • Career opportunities in the IT sector.

Students actively participated in the discussion, asked questions, and shared their impressions with the speaker. After the workshops, participants received memorable gifts from the "CyberMoscow" project in recognition of their active engagement.

Background: The meetings were held as part of the implementation of the comprehensive plan for countering the ideology of terrorism in the Russian Federation for 2024-2028 (approved by the President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin on December 30, 2023 No Pr-2610) at four sites of the Moscow Polytech at the following addresses: Moscow, 16 Avtozavodskaya Street, 2a Pryanishnikova Street, 22 Pavel Korchagin Street.
