The programme of the Festival for foreign citizens “Russia - My Soul” continued at the Newports Institute of Communications and Economics in Karachi. The festival is organised with the support of the Russian World Foundation and has become a significant celebration of Russian culture and language.
The programme of events included interactive lectures and quizzes, as well as an art exhibition of lithographs entitled “The Road to Alexander Pushkin”. The participants had the opportunity to delve into the creative world of the renowned Russian poet, to gain insight into his life and legacy and to appreciate the outstanding lithographs. Next, the attendees participated in a quiz on “The Life and Work of Alexander Pushkin”, showcasing their understanding of the renowned author. Guests who provided correct answers to all questions received memorable gifts fr om Moscow Polytechnic University.
The Festival’s primary event was a Poetry Contest, where students from educational institutions in Karachi exhibited their talents.
The participants who demonstrated the most expressive performance of poems and achieved the highest scores from the jury members were rewarded with books on Russian language learning along with a discount on a Russian Language Courses at Moscow Polytechnic University.
“I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to attend this Festival. It was a truly enlightening journey into the world of Russian culture. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organisers for this truly remarkable experience,” said Ishtiaq Muhammad Faiz, the grand-prize winner of the Poetry Contest.
Boris Gusev, the Russian Federation’s Deputy Trade Representative in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Minister of Energy in Sindh, attended the event as honoured guests.
In his speech, Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah emphasised the cultural significance of such events and highlighted the educational opportunities available to Pakistani citizens in Russia.
In recognition of their valuable contribution to intercultural interaction, representatives of Moscow Polytechnic - Yulia Davydova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Alina Andrukh, Head of the International Department, and Nazir Magsi, lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management, were presented with a traditional headscarf - ajrak.
One of the key events that transpired during the festival was the signing of the memorandum between the Moscow Polytechnic University and the Newports Institute of Communications and Economics.
Representatives of the Russian and Pakistani sides participated in the planting of a tree, a gesture that symbolised the success of joint projects.
The Festival “Russia - My Soul” was a true celebration of Russian culture and language. The event provided an opportunity to experience the depth of Russian literature, art and traditions. Such events contribute to the development of intercultural exchange and the strengthening of friendly ties between countries.
