Moscow Polytech Expert Discussed Replacing Household Chemicals with Three Natural Products

In an interview with Life.ru, Nina Myasishcheva, Head of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology at Moscow Polytechnic University and Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, presented an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to dozens of cleaning products. According to the expert, a combination of three products—baking soda, table vinegar, and lemon—can handle most apartment cleaning tasks.

Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), according to Nina Myasishcheva, acts as a mild abrasive and odor neutralizer. It can be used to clean grease and carbon deposits from kitchen surfaces and plumbing fixtures, unclog pipes when combined with vinegar, and refresh carpets and textiles.

The expert notes that 9% table vinegar is an effective antiseptic and limescale remover. A vinegar-and-water solution is suitable for cleaning glass and mirrors without leaving streaks, descaling kettles, and disinfecting cutting boards.
