The World Youth Festival is taking place from February 29 and March 7 on the territory of the educational center Sirius in Sochi. The event gather 20 thousand participants from 188 countries. Moscow Polytech students became part of them.
According to the organizers, the Festival aims at building relations between young and active people from around the globe who are yet to build the future together – the world based on cooperation and strive for balance of interests.
“The atmosphere at World Youth Festival is unbelievable. I have never seen such a unity, kindness and happiness around. We have already managed to get acquainted with the Argentinians, Brazilians, Ceylonese. And that`s only beginning. The artist Polina Gagarina performed her song “A million voices” during the opening ceremony, which set the pace for the whole event”, says Institute of Publishing and Journalism student Alena Demchuk.
Reference: World Youth Festival has been held since 1947. For the first time it was held in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The event was also held two times in the USSR: in 1957 and 1985, both times in Moscow. Moscow Festival (1957) had the most turn up during the whole history of the festival movement. 34 thousand people from 131 took part in the event. The last Festival was held in October 2017 in Sochi.
