Moscow Polytech foreign students learned about the creation of the nuclear energy platform supported by BRICS companies
The heads of the largest specialized companies and organizations fr om the BRICS+ member–countries, including Russia, China, Brazil, Iran, Ethiopia, Bolivia, held the first meeting in the framework of the nuclear energy platform being created. The new association is designed to assist companies of the BRICS+ countries in matters of development of nuclear energy, cooperation, exchanging best practices, personnel training, and in other spheres. During the meeting, which took place in the Atom Museum in Moscow on October 17, the participants discussed the initiative and outlined further plans. Foreign students from Moscow Polytech also attended the meeting.
The main goal of the platform is to develop and implement best practices and advanced approaches in terms of energy and non-energy applications of nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes in the BRICS and BRICS+ markets, as well as to develop stimulating mechanisms and models of implementation of the projects in the nuclear industry of the member-countries of the association. By 2050, according to forecasts by Russian experts, the BRICS countries will provide at least half of the world’s energy production and consumption, at the same time, with nuclear energy playing an important role in meeting the growing demand for it.
“Practically in all the countries of the association, the projects in the sphere of nuclear power industry are being implemented. Many BRICS members today are technological drivers of the international nuclear market. General experience may and must be used and replicated throughout the BRICS space and worldwide in the whole. Therefore, we propose combining efforts within the framework of the BRICS nuclear platform – a voluntary alliance of companies, professional nuclear communities and NGO, supporting the development and implementation of nuclear technologies,” - emphasized Alexey Likhachyov, Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation.
After the event, for foreign students of Moscow Polytechnic University and supporting universities of the Rosatom State Corporation, the excursion was organised in the “Atom” pavilion, wh ere the students learned about the history of the nuclear energy development: from its beginning in the Soviet Union times to the present day.
