The Speed Record on the Frozen Baikal from the EMP Polytech Team!

The team of Moscow Polytechnic University “EMP Polytech” set a record in the competition for electric motorcycles on ice. The motorcycle was driven by twice Vice-champion "Dakar" Anastasia Nifontova. Competitions were held within the speed Festival "Baikal mile "from the Association of speed enthusiasts "Icebreakers" in the period from March 15 to March 17 on lake Baikal.

This festival is a unique world-class event. About 17 teams took part in this event and more than 25 units of sports equipment were used. There was a choice between three distances: qualifying for 1/8 miles and two combatant for 1 and 3 miles. The competitions, which have already become traditional for the USA, were held in Russia for the first time. Severe Siberian conditions added extreme feelings.

The Motorcycle was personally designed and manufactured by students. For 6 years of existence the team managed to build 8 electric motorcycles repeatedly becoming the winner of student international competitions "Smart Moto Challenge". The initiative of students was supported by Moscow Polytechnic University, MOTUL Company and the Federation of motorcycle sports in Russia. The performer of the record is Anastasia Nifontova - a famous Russian motorcycle racer, a MOTUL athlete, Master of International Class Sport in Motorsport. In 2019, Anastasia became the first female who passed the rally-marathon "Dakar" in the standings "Original by MOTUL", where participants perform without technical support.
