Vietnamese students arranged a colorful holiday

January 18, a special holiday took place in the main building of Moscow Poly – the Day of Vietnamese Culture, arranged by our university jointly with the Russian State Social University (RSSU). More than 160 Vietnamese and other foreign students from 24 universities of Moscow took part in the event.

It was an evening of songs, dances and other stage performances, full of folk motives. The name of evening was presented on the screen: “What is Tet?”. Tet is one of most important holidays in Vietnam: the New Year according to the lunar-solar calendar that is celebrated in late January. In accordance with the topic of the event, all the numbers were devoted to Tet. The celebration was attended both by employees of our University and young people from other countries.

“Many students, especially Russian, would like to take part in the evening, but, unfortunately, they have the session now and work actively for exams”, - told us one of Vietnamese students of our university. – “We have excellent relations with students from Russia and other countries. But this holiday may allow to learn our culture better. And besides, we are making this evening for ourselves: so that those who cannot be now at home in Vietnam, could feel the solemn atmosphere and celebrate together. As to the program, out of all numbers I like most our New Year’s songs. They will be the first to appear on the stage”.

The holiday was opened with a welcome address by Director of Directorate for International Integration and Work with Foreign Students of Moscow Poly Irina Ivanova. There sounded words of gratitude to the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Russian State Social University for the support rendered to arranging the event. “I would like to believe that this concert will lay down the beginning of tradition to arrange such festivals, devoted to other cultures, as well. Please mind that students from various countries study here, and I think everyone will like today’s event and we will hold annual festivals. We are glad to host these celebrations at our place and will be happy to attend the events of our friends”.
