31 January is celebrated internationally as the day of jewelry makers. And Moscow Poly is one of few universities that train such specialists – jewelers.
In 2022, the competition for the “Artistic design and digital technologies in jewelry” is 3 persons per place. In 2023, it`s planned to take on 30 freshmen: 25 state-funded students and 5 contact students.
The future jewelers are getting a balanced complex of knowledge in engineering and arts. Students are learning to put their ideas into paper or computer screen, create 3D models of artistic and jewelry of nay complexity using such simulator programs as Rhibo, Zbrush, Matrix.
“We`re training specialists who possess a set of certain knowledge and skills in the following spheres: jewelry conceptual design, surface and polygonal 3D modelling, modern casting technologies of ”, – said the assistant professor at “Casting Machinery and Technologies” ”Dmitry Burtsev.
Starting as early as the first year, the students can practically apply their knowledge in the framework of the “Project Activity” discipline. The students are making pendants, earrings, ring and many other jewelry pieces to add up to their portfolios. Also, the students undertake academic and professional internships where they can carry out real projects in the sphere of jewelry making.
