University as R&D Center: Moscow Polytechnic University Presents Strategy for Training New Type of Engineer

A delegation fr om Moscow Polytechnic University participated in the symposium "Technological Leadership: From Expertise to Strategy." The university presented a model for training a new generation of engineers—universal specialists ready to work on a product at every stage, from conception to mass production.

"We are building the university as an R&D center, wh ere research, engineering development, training, and collaboration with industrial partners are all part of a single strategy. It is important for us not just to create technological solutions but also to cultivate a new type of engineer—universal engineers capable of seeing a product's entire journey from concept to production and market launch. Through practical experience and direct interaction with industry, we are building a talent pool for key sectors of the Russian economy," said Vladimir Miklushevsky, Rector of Moscow Polytechnic University.

Pablo Iturralde, Director of the Advanced Engineering School of Technological Leadership (FDR), presented a specific example of this approach. The school has developed independent modular platforms across various categories with localized automotive components. Such strategic technology projects demonstrate that Moscow Polytech specialists and students possess the necessary competencies to understand the new model of the modern automotive market.

The symposium was dedicated to the results of the 2025 technological assessment as part of the Priority 2030 program. Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov participated in the plenary session.
