Russian “Znaniye” Society and Moscow Polytech, supported by Russian Ministry of Education and Science, launch educational marathon
The two-day educational marathon "Knowledge. Science" has kicked off in Moscow. The event, dedicated to key inventions by Russian scientists and current opportunities for researchers in the country, is taking place at the National Center "Russia." It was organized by the Russian "Znaniye" (“Knowledge”) Society in collaboration with Moscow Polytechnic University, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Welcoming the participants, Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that among them were schoolchildren, students, prize winners and awardees of Russian and international Olympiads.
"You've already taken a crucial first step toward truly becoming our country's gold reserve. You have a very interesting life ahead of you, with a vast array of opportunities. Many will want to become physicists, mathematicians, chemists, biologists, and engineers. And to achieve this, our country, at the direction of the President, has an entire national goal. It's about creating the conditions for realizing potential and talent. The government is doing everything it can to ensure these conditions exist. Never before in modern Russia has there been such large-scale investment in the creation of scientific and educational infrastructure: schools and campuses are being built across the country, youth labs are opening, new scientific equipment is being acquired, and various financial support, such as grants and scholarships, is being provided. In short, those who want to will definitely have the opportunity to realize their potential," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
In his speech, Minister of Education and Science Valery Falkov recalled that, by decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the country is celebrating the Decade of Science and Technology.
“What are our goals for this decade? One of the top priorities is to attract youths to science. Much is being done in our country to achieve this - fr om opening youth laboratories, implementing the Priority 2030 program, establishing advanced engineering schools, and even holding key events like this marathon. I am grateful to all the speakers who will be speaking these days. To make the responsible decision to pursue a career in science, you need to know as much as possible about it," the minister noted.
More than 5 thousand people can personally attend lectures of leading scientists, and the whole country will be able to connect to the on-air broadcast. The marathon will be the culmination of the large-scale "Science Around Us" campaign, which launched on October 24. Around 300 popular science lectures are already taking place across the country. The campaign will cover all regions of Russia and several neighboring countries, including Abkhazia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and South Ossetia, and will conclude on November 19 - Higher Education Worker's Day.
An important part of the program are governors' meetings with students and young scientists which take place at federal universities, regional research centers, and universities participating in the Priority 2030 program. Through an open dialogue, young people will learn about the role of regional science in national development, government support for research, and career opportunities for talented professionals.
Participants of the educational marathon "Knowledge. Science" will enjoy interactive science shows, wh ere speakers will share discoveries made by Russian scientists. The program will conclude with a raffle for prizes and gifts: branded merchandise and books from the "Znaniye" society.
