Researchers at Moscow Polytechnic University Discuss Science, Society and Technology Issues

Specialists and young scientists from Russian regions and neighbouring countries attended the “Science, Society and Technology 2025” scientific-practical conference, organised by the Physics Department of Moscow Polytechnic University. The event welcomed over 140 attendees, who presented their reports on current issues in the fields of Physics-Mathematics, Engineering Technology and Pedagogical Sciences.

This year marked the ninth edition of the “Science, Society and Technology” conference, consistently a highlight in the university’s academic calendar. According to the organisers, one of the main objectives of the event is to combine the efforts of specialists from a wide range of fields that play an important role in the development of modern society.
This year’s conference took place in both in-person and online formats. The organisers noted that live communication enhances the exchange of ideas among specialists, especially among young people. However, the online format simplifies the process of gathering representatives from different cities and countries in one place.
Daria Strekalina, Head of the Physics Department, welcomed the participants of the conference.
The conference featured sessions on Physics-Mathematics, Engineering Technology and Pedagogical Sciences. In addition, students and young scientists also delivered presentations of their latest research.
Nikolay Kalashnikov, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Head of the General Physics Department at National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, was an honoured guest and participant of the Conference. He delivered a plenary presentation on “Sputtering of Metal Atoms with Plasma Potential”.
The Professor marked the interest to the problems of Mathematical Theory and Modern Astrophysics and Cosmology at the Physics and Mathematics Section.
The Engineering Science and Technology section covered a wide range of issues in applied science, with a focus on topics relevant to students’ laboratory work, including quantum computers, structural strength, and the role of liquid metals in 21st-century energy projects.
This year, employees from Moscow Polytechnic University branches in Ryazan, Kolomna, and Cheboksary participated actively in the forum. One such example was a presentation by E.N. Kuznetsov, a student from the Kolomna Institute of Moscow Polytechnic University, who delivered an insightful report on the subject of “Resilience of 08X18N10T Austenitic Steel under Short-Term Loads”.

The event featured a total of 142 representatives from 311 authors, with 231 papers submitted and presented.
Representatives from notable institutions such as the Armenian Polytechnic University (Yerevan and Vanadzori), the Academy of Sciences of the Belarus Republic (including the Institute of Metal-Polymer Systems Mechanics in Gomel and the Institute of Physics and Technology in Minsk), the Belarus National Technical University (Minsk), and Lanzhou University in Gansu Province, China, participated in the event.
The outcomes of the conference are anticipated to be disseminated through the medium of scientific articles that will be incorporated into the national reference database of scientific citation, RINC.
