Pablo Iturralde: "I Am Convinced Modern Engineer Is Capable of Solving Wide Variety of Problems"

A delegation fr om Moscow Polytechnic University participated in the symposium "Technological Leadership: From Expertise to Strategy." The event was dedicated to summing up the results of the 2025 technological assessment and its further development as a key tool of the "Priority 2030" strategic academic leadership program.

The event began with a plenary session featuring representatives of federal government agencies, industry, and expert bodies, led by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

A highlight of the program was an interactive session based on real strategic technology projects (STPs). Pablo Iturralde, Director of the Advanced Engineering School of Technological Leadership (FDR), was one of four speakers pre-selected from among several dozen STP heads from universities across Russia. The Moscow Polytech representative's presentation focused on the "Sovereign Automotive Modular Platforms" project.

In the context of the game-based defense of a strategic technology project, Pablo placed special emphasis on training modern engineers and developing the necessary competencies for creating industrial-grade developments:

"Our projects create the foundation not only for training design engineers, but also for the formation of a full-fledged ecosystem in which specialists are able to develop technical solutions, effectively collaborate with partners, integrate products into the Russian market, and ensure their localization. When a person engages in engineering development during their studies, they acquire universal competencies. I am convinced that a modern engineer is capable of solving a wide variety of problems. If our specialist can create a Russian electric car, then they can also develop the equipment for its production. That is why our goal is to create a dynamic ecosystem wh ere each new development becomes the impetus for others, like a domino effect. This approach requires a harmonious combination of systematic approach and creative thinking, because every engineer is a creator and a sculptor."

Both the jury and the audience warmly received Pablo Iturralde’s presentation. After the main part of the competition, voting took place, resulting in the director of the FDR School taking a respectable second place.
