Over 200 Schoolchildren Participated in "Finathlon for High School Students" at Moscow Polytechnic University
In 2026, high school students from 70 regions of Russia participated in the All-Russian Olympiad on financial literacy, sustainable development, and consumer protection of financial services, "Finathlon for High School Students." The Olympiad set a historic record: over 55,000 participants registered for the qualifying round. This is almost double the number of previous years. A total of 2,600 finalists competed in the finals at various venues across the country. Olympiad winners will receive preferential admissions to leading Russian universities, including Moscow Polytechnic University.
The results of the competition will be announced on the website shortly.
"Competition in the finals was 27 people per place," the organizing committee noted. "This is the level of leading Moscow universities." Nevertheless, our participants are not afraid of challenges: they know that a Finathlon diploma is not just a line in their portfolio, but a real chance of getting into a state-funded program.
An analysis of the finalists' works in 2026 revealed a shift in priorities. Students stopped fearing abstract inflation and focused on concrete threats. The most popular Olympiad topics were:
- Cybersecurity ("How not to lose money when transferring it to grandma");
- The digital ruble and its impact on the family budget;
- Financial pyramid schemes on Telegram and consumer protection online.
The Olympiad is included in the Ministry of Education and Science's list, which entitles winners and runners-up to admission benefits. Importantly, not only economics departments accept the Finathlon diploma. This year, more than 40 partner universities are awarding points for individual achievements to applicants in engineering, IT, and teaching majors.
The Olympiad is held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Finance, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, and the Bank of Russia.
