Moscow Polytechnic University Joins Cameroonian Association’s International Women’s Day Celebration

Moscow Polytechnic University took part in an event organized by the Cameroonian Association to celebrate International Women’s Day. The event brought together over 60 young women from various African countries studying in Russia.
The event provided a platform for discussions on pressing issues affecting women, including education and career prospects, health concerns and Russian migration legislation. A particular focus of the event was the adaptation of foreign students within the Russian educational system, a key priority area for Moscow Polytech.

The president of the Cameroonian Association, Louis Gouend, officially opened the event programme. In his remarks, he extended felicitations to all women on the upcoming holiday and emphasised the significance of fostering support and interaction within the women’s community: “We are here to strengthen the bonds between us and create a space for sharing knowledge and experiences.”
The event featured a distinguished lineup of speakers: Alina Andrukh, PhD in Education and Head of International Directorate at Moscow Polytechnic University; Ekaterina Glok, an obstetrician and author of a renowned course on women's health; Djamène Chami Luciana, an activist from the Cameroonian Association; and Pastor Gustave, who spoke about mental wellbeing.

Alina Andrukh shared insights on the adjustment of international students in the Russian education system, highlighting the opportunities offered by the university and the importance of supporting foreign students in Russia. “Acknowledging the challenges that foreign citizens may encounter in a new country, we aim to establish conducive environment in order to make the educational process as optimal as possible,” – she said. The presentation also covered visa regulations, medical insurance and social support for foreign citizens. The program concluded with a quiz, wh ere participants with the highest scores received gifts.
Such events are beneficial in fostering international ties and creating a supportive environment for all students.
Moscow Polytechnic University is committed to continuing its productive collaboration with African countries in the spheres of education and cultural exchange. At present, more than 110 students from African countries are studying at the university.
