Moscow Polytech’s expert explains how to save money when buying summer tires

As the spring-summer season approaches, drivers are starting to think about changing their tires. Yuri Furletov, Associate Professor and Senior Researcher at Moscow Polytechnic University, spoke with Life.ru about how to choose the right summer tires, avoid overpaying, and save up to 12,000 rubles on their installation. According to the expert, when choosing new tires, budget should be the first consideration, but do not forget about technical specifications.

The expert recommends paying attention to European tire labels, which reflect fuel efficiency, wet grip, and noise level.

"It's advisable to choose tires based on these parameters: the higher the fuel efficiency, the lower the fuel consumption; the better the grip, the more stable the car is on wet roads; the lower the noise, the more comfortable the interior. These are the factors I would recommend paying attention to," explained Yuri Furletov. Answering a question about the best buying time, Yuri Furletov dispelled the myth of significant savings when buying summer tires in winter. The expert warns that during the off-season, warehouse selection is minimal, which can make it difficult to find the right model. The main way to save money is to take advantage of manufacturer promotions. Many companies offer free tire installation or an extended warranty with the purchase of a set.
