Moscow Polytech Researchers Win the “Young Scientists 2025” Competition
Two young researchers from Moscow Polytechnic University — Yakov Klochkov and Polina Anenkova — have been named winners of the prestigious “Young Scientists 2025” grant competition. The results were announced at Metal-Expo 2025, the largest annual event in the metallurgical industry. The competition, organized by the Russian Union of Metal and Steel Suppliers, brought together talented young researchers whose scientific works covered a wide range of topics — from the development of laboratory equipment to studies of corrosion in extreme conditions.
Moscow Polytech demonstrated strong scientific potential this year. Yakov Klochkov, a postgraduate student, received an award for his research on the weldability and mechanical properties of welded joints of Al–Ca–Zn–Mg alloy sheets. Polina Anenkova, a student of the university, was recognized for her work on enhancing the production technology of expendable wax patterns using FDM 3D printing for prototype castings.
“For us, this platform is valuable because it allows us to meet key manufacturers and consumers in the industry for which we train our students. And for students and postgraduates, participating in the exhibition is an invaluable experience, as their work is evaluated by recognized industry experts,” noted Guzel Sharipzyanova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Moscow Polytech.
During the exhibition’s business program, Vice-Rector Guzel Sharipzyanova also delivered a presentation highlighting the university’s strengths, including the unique educational module ‘Project Activity’.
Held for the first time in St. Petersburg from November 11 to 14, Metal-Expo 2025 became a major international meeting point for the industry. The exhibition welcomed more than 25,000 specialists and featured around 400 companies from Austria, Belarus, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, China, Korea, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
