In November 2022, the International Forum of “Autonet” Market Professionals “Strategy for Automotive Industry Development Strategy 2035” took place at Moscow Polytech in the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology under support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, NTI Foundation and platform “National Technological Initiative”. Experts representing lawmakers regulators and relevant ministries, as well as representatives of business leaders and leading specialists, as well as representatives of the scientific and educational communities, including those fr om interdisciplinary areas, discussed the establishment formation of the Russian automotive industry and the development of an ecosystem for investors.
According to the Vice-President for Scientific Affairs Anton Nalivaiko, Moscow Polytech holds serious intentions “to become a platform for open dialogue on the development of the automotive industry” and “a comfortable and effective platform for respective communications”. Today, Moscow Polytech, that has been writing its history since 1864, is one of the leading higher educational institutions in Russia that trains specialists for the automotive industry. The University conducts research in a number of key areas, including those related to the development of infrastructure in megacities. The moderator of the panel discussion “Autonomous Transport Vehicles”, and an expert of the Research Center NTI “Autonet” at Moscow Polytech Sergey Shadrin, also discussed it at the Forum. He highlighted the increasing urbanization (74.7% as of 1 January, 2020), that causes such problems as traffic jams, public traffic congestion, significant level of harmful substances in the atmosphere, insufficient number of green spaces. In addition, in many cities there is an infrastructure deficit, together with disproportions of spatial development, which is a consequence of irrational planning and insufficient clear supervision. Active urbanization leads to the necessity for competent city management based on innovative technologies”.
It is the development of such technologies that Sergey Shadrin and the team of Moscow Polytech are engaged in, understanding that the industry development is related to the “improvement of safety and energy efficiency”, which can be achieved with the help of intelligent driver assistance systems and autonomous movements. Additional relevance of these technologies is determined by the regional specifics and relates to the tasks of communicating between vast territories, the necessity of increasing the competitiveness of automotive products, as well as ensuring technological sovereignty”.
Young scientists are allowed for participation in the implementation of the Automotive Industry Development Strategy, including in the framework of the International Olympiad “Open Doors” by the Association “Global Universities” wh ere Moscow takes active participation.
