Moscow Polytech Experts Took Part in the Study "Russian Technologies: a Human of the Future"

Representatives of Moscow Polytechnic University: Vice-Rector for Digital Development Ilya Krasilnikov and Lecturer of the Department of Management Nazir Magsi took part in the study, which combined the opinions of more than 15 experts in the field of AI, including representatives of the IT market, experts in digitalization, leading employees of scientific and technological centers of Russia. The expert report "Russian Technologies: a Human of the future" was prepared by NtechLab jointly with the Development Center "NEW ERA".

In particular, to the question “72% of young people, among the risks of AI development, note the loss of a person’s job. To what extent is this risk justified?” representatives of Moscow Polytech answered as follows:

Nazir Magsi:

“The risk of full loss of jobs because of AI is not justified”. It is more a result of some social hype than conscious understanding of the very technology and the principles of its operation… A human has always adapted and evolved along with the progress, and the same process is underway. There were concerns before, however at that time there was no such speed of information dissemination as today, which creates rapidly spreading fears. AI is the next step in technological evolution, and it will not be an exception. Moreover, modern AI systems have significant limitations, including in ensuring the stability and repeatability of the result. If we imagine a fantastic scenario in which AI completely replaces human labor, it will only lead to the deepest economic paradox. On the one hand, the economy is built not only on production, but also on the consumption system. Who will buy products and services if people do not have income? Without a working population, solvent demand disappears, and with it the economy and the meaning of all technologies as such.”

Ilya Krassilnikov:

“The fears are justified for the routine professions (accountants, call-center operators), where automation have reached 40-60%. However, AI creates new professions. Retraining of personnel is critically important considering rapid development of technologies”.

Key findings from the experts involved in the research:

• AI has a dual impact on thinking: it reduces critical thinking but enhances digital skills;

• ethics should not slow down AI, but must set its boundaries; the transition to super-AI is not just a technological transformation, but an ontological shift that affects the very nature of reason and being;

• comprehensive legal and ethical regulation is needed;

• the main risk is loss of control, especially in the field of cybersecurity;

• one of the key dangers is the issue of ethics: if super-AI has artificial intelligence, there is a need to define its rights and responsibilities to prevent a potential global catastrophe;

• education, transparency and human control are the three pillars of safe AI integration.
