Moscow Polytech Discusses Challenges in Philology and Modern Approaches to Foreign Language Teaching

Current issues in linguistics, foreign language teaching methodology in contemporary educational settings, as well as the role of artificial intelligence and modern technologies in education were discussed at the VIII All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues of Foreign Language Teaching in the System of Lifelong Education” and the professional development course “Unified Educational Space: Foreign Language Teaching.” The event brought together more than 70 participants from six federal districts of Russia, as well as representatives from the United States and Hungary.

During the plenary session, leading scholars shared their expertise, including representatives of Kazan State Power Engineering University (Rafina Zakieva, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development), the Russian Academy of Education (Irina Elkina, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Editorial and Publishing Department), Bauman Moscow State Technical University (Yulia Kurovskaya, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Lead Analyst at the Laboratory of Comparative Pedagogy and History of Education of the Center for Educational Development), MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Polina Shcherbo, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of English Language), and Moscow Polytech (Ilona Tamrazova, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages).

The conference sessions were organized into three thematic areas: Philological Sciences, Pedagogical Sciences and Digital Education. The event concluded with a series of round-table discussions devoted to innovations in foreign language teaching methodology, including competitions, projects and grant opportunities; pedagogical reflection as a tool for professional development; and the development of communicative competence through examination formats incorporating AI-based tools.

The conference proceedings will be published in a collected volume of articles and included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI), the national bibliographic database of scientific publications.

The conference was organized by the Department of Foreign Languages of Moscow Polytech in cooperation with partner universities: the Academy of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Shadrinsk State Pedagogical University and the University of Tyumen.
