Moscow Poly “New Library” strategic project is holding a series of events devoted to science fiction on April 10, 17, 20 April. They all will be held at a library on Bolshaya Semyonovskaya st., 38, office “H-416” at 18:00.
On April 10 (Mon), Moscow Poly is going to hold club meeting devoted to novels by Daniel Keyes “Flowers of Algernon”. The moving science fiction work is written fr om the perspective of an intellectually disabled cleaning worker Charli who is participating in an experiment for increasing intellect. The novel is a collection of reports that the main character writes and allow the reader to keep track of changes in his IQ. This is one of the most well-known and unusual fiction books.
On April 17 (Mod), the literary club will be dedicated to the poem by brothers Strugatsky – “Roadside” picnic. The participants of the meeting will find out that the word “stalker” was made up and used first by the brothers in this very work. In the book, stalkers are called the people who are smuggling the artifacts fr om special zones – mysterious and dangerous places left on Earth after it was visited by aliens. The main hero is a stalker who is dreaming about getting right to the heart of the zone where, according to the rumors, the desires come true.
At the event, one will be able to discuss books with other participants and hosts, learn new facts about authors and their works. Also, there will be traditional quizzes held wh ere one can win Moscow Poly merch. In addition, various book markers with a special design prepared for the participants.

On April 20 (Thu), – “Something You Already Read” – event in format on the edge of Stand Up and heart-to-heart talk wh ere the audience will discuss favourite books in a good company. The hosts of the event will help to remember about the contents of “Martian”, “War of the Worlds”, “Fahrenheit 451”, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” and other interesting books. Traditionally, the tea drinking ceremony is awaiting the guests.
