Moscow Poly Students Created Digital Platform to Support Project Activity
Moscow Poly Faculty of Information Technologies students created Folipro digital platform for supporting project activity at Universities, as reported Kommersant. The system shows completed tasks in the form of postcards that contain the work complaint. Also, Folio helps compile the participant`s portfolio with information about the accomplishments, and ensure automation of all project managing and controlling processes.
Currently guys are communicating with the Higher Engineering School under Russian University of Transport in a testing format.
“From the day one, when creating Folipro, we were trying to make a startup that can potentially become a fully functional business. We`ve been presenting this project at various contests, championships and acceleration programs since last fall. And we have collected more than 10 victories. The platform is not about uploading archive projects to be accessed by anyone interested, but rather to provide a full access a full-scale solution for project management real-time”, - shared one of the authors Vladislav Philippovich.
Vladislav is working together with Semyon Baryshnikov, who`s got 3 years of experience in back-end developing and monolithic and microservice app architecture developing, and designer Alexander Lagutov.
The students have anylized the “Project Fair” at HSE, “Platform 2035”, Skolkovo “Mentors Academy” and identified that competitive solutions don`t provide the feature set that the Universities need nowadays.
“According to the analysis, the solutions used by the universities don`t allow for the processing and systemization of the data collected, or its detailed demonstration to the students and potential industrial partners”, - said Philippovich.
The authors of the project believe that Folipro will help school students choose the university based on its position in real economics, and students, in their turn, will be able to keep and provide the information on the projects they completed, which will give them an advantage when looking for a job.
Apart from that, the universities will also gain effective instruments for systemization and demonstration of the results obtained in the course of their project activity, the companies supporting these universities, in their turn, will get access to the information on students experience and skills. This will allow employees find talents and form the pool of specialists for themselves.
The initial project version developed for the Moscow Poly faculty of information technologies included the feature set for project passport demonstration and interface for filling it in. The students have created a system that would allow to demonstrate strong sides of project activity. Even at the first stage the system included over 100 projects, and the feature set for its administration.
The second step was the cooperation with the University that has only started implementing the project activity at its base and needs a solution suggested by the team. The main requirement for the MIIT Higher Engineering School was so-called project market that would allow to automatize the student allocation into groups, appointing their supervisors and the consequent role distribution between the participants.
In the course of 2 months, students were developing the requested feature set that now scales the system and brings it closer to the full-features digitalization of the whole project administrating process.
Currently Folipro is being tested – there are over 40 registered users, 10+ projects with over 30 applications applied for each of them.
According to developers, as time goes, the platform will become an effective tool for any project activity not only the one that`s implemented at universities.
The team has taken the 3rd place in “Expert+”, the IIIrd national legal case championship in October, received high points at the “Now is the Future” exhibition held in the framework of “Archipelago 2022” project-educational intensive, as well as become the winners at start up demo-festival last December.
