Moscow Poly Graduate on Studying at University and Working at International Company
Vasiliy Markin, who graduated Moscow Poly transport faculty in 2012, shared his personal story of success.
On choosing occupation
“I started interesting in cars in early childhood. Sedans, all-rounders, open tops – I had it all on my “sketches”. I even created whole lineups. By the 9th grade I was playing computer games all the time and was bad at studies because I didn`t see any point. Back then I couldn`t even imagine that vehicle design would become my profession.
So it was, until my mom found out about the Moscow Poly design department. After that, next two years, I was attending the preparatory course classes in car design, academic drawing, math and Russian. It was then that I understood: I can turn what I like into my profession”.
On studying at the University
“I was crazy in love with the classes in design and course projects. I spent most time on it. I had more difficulties with academic drawing and pictorial art classes, though, but I tried my best knowing that it is an important part of my profession. Generally speaking, the problem was that I didn`t like to drawing something that already exists. I love drawing something that is not there yet.
In 2011, our teacher got a message from one more Moscow Poly graduate and art-director at the Levedev`s Studio, Timur Burbaev, who was recruiting people for employment and internships. I submitted my portfolio that very day and I was admitted for the internship in industrial design, and then hired. That was the period of various projects and cool experience that backs up my work to this day”.
“When I was a four-year student the story of my collaboration with ‘Lada’ started and lasted for nine years. I`ll not even mention everything I learnt there. I participated in many projects and ended up in the warm atmosphere that favored creativity.”What now?
“In December that year I transferred to the European ‘Hyundai’ office. It`s too early to make second guesses but I can already say that the team here is great, everybody is friendly and always ready to help. It`s one of the crucial aspects for me – when you know that you always get the needed support even from your opponents. As for the future, we`ll see what comes next”.
