From Laboratory to a Racetrack: Moscow Polytech Holds Preview of the Film About Hybrid Sports Prototype FDR12
Moscow Polytechnic University has screened a documentary about the FDR Moscow engineering team and their innovative hybrid sports prototype FDR12, developed as part of the FDR Advanced Engineering School for Technological Leadership.
The film focuses on the creation of the innovative FDR12 hybrid sports prototype for endurance racing, brought to life through the efforts of engineers, master's students, and lubrication experts from Rolf Lubricants. The company responded to the team's request to develop effective engine and transmission oils, becoming the project's general partner.
The documentary tells the story of the team's journey—from the dream of building their own race car to its first laps on the actual track of the Russian Endurance Challenge championship.
The key features of the new racing prototype are its hybrid power unit and carbon-fiber monocoque, the first of its kind in Russia for vehicles in this class.
Furthermore, the film highlights the role of ROLF lubricants used in the car's construction, engine, and transmission, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability even under the extreme conditions of endurance racing. Rolf Performance 10W-50 oil, with minimal thickener content and low volatility, was specially developed for the FDR12 sports prototype.
“While developing the car, we collaborate with various technical partners. Rolf Lubricants developed a special motor oil for us tailored to racing conditions,” commented Pablo Iturralde, Director of the FDR Advanced Engineering School for Technological Leadership at Moscow Polytech. He added that such partnerships allow students to work with cutting-edge technologies and receive support from leading industry companies. “Students gain a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in real racing conditions, which fundamentally transforms the quality of their training,” Pablo Iturralde added.
Background: The project’s title partner is the professional racing team Spora GT. Other partners include S.motorsport, ShonX, Formula Carbon, GameSTUL, GoRace, WATTEX, Polymer Research Institute, REC, IRZ TEK, JDM Power Shop, Nauka.RF, and Bezgranichnye.
