Foreign Moscow Poly students from the Benin Republic, Turkmenistan, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Turkmenistan and Syrian Arab Republic visited military-patriotic park “Patriot”. They went to excursion to the “Memory road” museum complex and the Main Cathedral of Russian Armed Forces.
Students were told that length of museum gallery is equal to 1418 steps – according to the 1418 days of war. Gallery shows history of each day of the war, recreating agonizing atmosphere of 1941-1945. Students visited 35 halls, including 27 immersive ones.
The Main Cathedral of Russian Armed Forces is a spiritual symbol of Russia, glorifying greatest victory of life over death. The Cathedral of Resurrection of Christ is dedicated to 75 year anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and feat of arms of Russian people in all wars, suffered by our country. Students visited museum complexes of Lower and Upper Cathedral and took a look at the main icon of the church “The Savior Not Made by Hands”. The icon was painted on wooden planks of cast-iron eight-pounder’s gun carriage, made in 1710, which was found at the bed of Neva. Icon traveled more than 57.000 km, was shown on 45 cities, churches and military bases and later was returned to Moscow, where it was placed in the Main Cathedral of Russian Armed Forces.
Excursion was organized by International Integration & WFS Directorate of Moscow Poly in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Management in order to involve foreign youth in joint humanitarian types of activities. These activities will promote image of Russian culture, people and way of life in the minds of foreign citizens.
