Environmental safety and sustainable social development discussed at Moscow Polytechnic University
On February 27, the International Educational Conference "Environmental Safety and Sustainable Social Development" was held at Moscow Polytechnic University. Students, postgraduates, and faculty from Russia and several other countries, including Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Congo, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China, Equatorial Guinea, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, Syria, Azerbaijan, and Moldova, attended the event.
The goal of the conference was to exchange experiences in Russian and international environmental education, discuss mechanisms for developing a system of environmental education and training, and discuss research in education, environmental safety, and occupational health.
The forum was moderated by Marina Grafkina, Professor at the Department of Environmental Safety of Technical Systems at Moscow Polytechnic University, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, laureate of the Russian Federation Government Prize in Education, Honorary Worker of Higher Education, and Honorary Professor at Moscow Polytechnic University. She emphasized the relevance of the agenda and the importance of youth participation in professional discussions.
"The Russian Federation consistently prioritizes environmental safety and sustainable social development. Students' perspectives on these issues are valuable because they reflect young people's attitudes toward the changes taking place in our country and the world," noted Marina Grafkina.
Welcoming remarks were addressed by:
Alexander Sapronov, coordinator of the "Clean Country" party project in Moscow, Moscow City Duma deputy, and director of the Park Yauza State Autonomous Institution of Moscow;
Nurbakhyt Nurmukhametov, Vice-Rector for Strategy at Kyzylorda Open University;
Nodira Gaibnazarova, Head of the Occupational Safety and Health Department of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), labor expert, and Deputy of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies;
Bolortuyaa Jargalsaikhan, lecturer at the National Technical University (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia), PhD in Engineering.
Kylyshbay Bisenov, Rector of Kyzylorda Open University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor, as well as faculty and students of the university, also joined the conference online.
In his speech, Alexander Sapronov noted the importance of an eco-friendly lifestyle for the sustainable development of society, outlined areas for further cooperation with Moscow Polytechnic University, and presented letters of gratitude to the students and university administration for their contribution to the development of the youth movement and participation in the implementation of socially significant initiatives.
The plenary session included presentations on:
"Environmental Education at Moscow Polytechnic University" (Marina Grafkina);
"The Ecosystem of the Modern Individual: Realities and Solutions" (Alexandra Gridchina, Professor at the Management Department at Moscow Polytechnic University and Doctor of Economics).
Following the plenary session, the conference continued with sections on:
- Assessment of the Environmental Status of Regions;
- Business in the Face of Global Environmental Challenges: Solution Tools and Mechanisms, Environmental Innovations;
- Environmental Safety of Technical Systems;
- Occupational Health and Safety in the Modern World;
- Sustainable Development Management: Business Processes and Environmental Safety;
- Key Areas for Achieving Sustainable Development: Social Technologies;
- Innovations in Ecology: Social and Economic Aspects (English-language section).
Following the conference, participants noted that, in order to create a sustainable environmental safety system, it is important to develop social values focused on environmental protection and occupational safety, as well as to ensure cooperation among all parties involved in this process.
Forum participants will receive certificates, and winners will receive diplomas. Documents will be submitted electronically.
