155th anniversary of Moscow Poly
A celebratory online broadcast, dedicated to Moscow Polytechnic University 155th anniversary, was streamed November 20
Valerii Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education expressed his congratulations to our students, professors and graduates:
I congratulate you on the 155th anniversary of Moscow Polytechnic University – the leader of Project Training in Russia. Moscow Polytechnic University unites technical and humanitarian education, science and creativity, free spirit and loyalty to traditions.
Students participate in Project Training since the first year of their education: they can join a project team that works on creative tasks in the fields of technologies, design, energy, transport and social sphere. The most important fact is that students put all their projects into practice. For example, the FDR Moscow team develops a conception, builds race cars and participates in competitions with the best European teams, the SMC Polytech Official engineering team creates electric motorcycles for any terrain: from asphalt to forest paths. Moreover, one of the best solar regatta teams, Manta Ray, builds solar-powered boats and also successfully participates in competitions, and these are just several examples.
So far Moscow Poly has more than 350 industrial partners and this cooperation helps to eliminate the disconnection between graduate skills and employers` demands.
Moscow Poly is also well-known for its research works in a variety of fields: IT and data systems, aviation and production, art and design.
I`m certain that Moscow Polytechnic University will support the conditions, indispensable for training and educating highly-qualified personnel, conduct global research works and support its status of Project Training leader in Russia.
I wish the best of luck to all the professors, students and graduates of Moscow Polytechnic University!”
Vladimir Micklushevskii, the president of Moscow Polytechnic University:
Today we celebrate a remarkable date – the 155th anniversary of Moscow Poly. This day is highly important for our students, professors, workers and graduates.
Our University has a long and rich history. Komissarovsky Technical School was founded in 1865, and this day stands at the origins of Moscow Polytechnic University. School`s activities have had an enormous impact on the establishment of Russian professional education, and even today we try to preserve and develop its best traditions. The School was transformed into Lomonosov technical school and after that - into Institute of Mechanics named after Michail V. Lomonosov. The first graduation took place in 1925: 45 students received the qualification of mechanical engineers.
After that there were established several other Universities: legendary Moscow Automechanical Institute, Moscow State Open University named after Victor S. Chernomurdin, Moscow Metallurgical Institute, Moscow State Industrial University and Moscow State University of Printing Arts of Ivan Fedorov.
September 1, 2016 the history and traditions of these Universities were united under new brand of Moscow Poly.
Today, as it was in the past, students and professors of our University are in love with their work, studies and dreams. I can see the enthusiasm of our students for their studies and mentor`s guidance. Engineers, graphic artists, illustrators, designers, IT-specialists – all of our graduates are confident in their future and leave the University with professional skills, knowledge and competences.
Studies in Moscow Poly are held in format of lectures, seminars, Project activities, sports competitions, extra-curricular and many other activities help our students to become demanded specialists that will contribute to the present and future of our country.
I am proud and happy to be the part of Moscow Poly. Our University gets better every day: we sharpen educational process, improve conditions of our campuses, create co-working spaces and broaden the circles of our guests and activities, helping each other to find something we love. Thank you for your active roles in these changes and for living the united lives with our University.
Special thanks to our veterans. You stood at the origin of educational directions of our University and created its solid foundation.
Congratulations to everyone who is proud of participation in Moscow Poly life and who can call our University home!
