The spring shift of the profession-oriented project The Dream University has been concluded at the Moscow Poly

The spring technical shift of the profession-oriented project for senior schoolchildren “The Dream University” has been concluded at the Moscow Poly. Children were told in detail about studies at the university, were taken on a guided tour to the laboratories of the Center for Engineering Development at the transport faculty. And during the workshop in the FabLab every participant could try his abilities in soldering and programming.

During the holidays a group of senior schoolchildren spent a whole day at the Moscow Poly in the framework of the project “The Dream University”. Children were told about the university, the student project activity, and were shown the transport faculty laboratories, where senior students create racing cars and electric bikes for participation in the international competitions “Formula Student” and “Smart Moto”. Anyone could also get acquainted with the participants of the student competitions and ask them questions.

At the University FabLab the engineering workshops “Author’s electronics” and “Programming” were held for the children. According to the Moscow Poly Engineering School (faculty) employee Anastasiya Nikolskaya, at the classes the children learnt to work with the soldering iron and other instruments, studied the basics of the software development. The tasks were not very complicated, and the project tutors helped children. “Programs like this help the participants to get to know the universities better, understand differences among them and define the trajectory for further education”, - considers Anastasiya Nikolskaya.

The introduction to the university was concluded with an interactive game “What? Where? When?”, in which the children could better memorize the new data about admissions and the student life. Together with the tutors they answered the questions: what is the passing score and why it is unadvisable to be guided by it? What is session, student card, student’s record book and the Dean’s Office? What is the meaning of the targeted admission and the Military Department?
