Vladimir Miklushevskiy visited premises of the Moscow Poly at Avtozavodskaya

January 31 Vladimir Miklushevskiy inspected research laboratories and classrooms of three faculties at once: engineering, of chemical technology and biotechnology and of urban studies and municipal economy. Acting Rector had a meeting with Heads of Departments and Scientific Centers, where the place of the university in the higher education system and its role in the Moscow agglomeration were discussed.

Dean of the engineering faculty Evgeniy Safonov told the meeting about the work of 10 laboratories and the pride of the faculty – the Center for Common Use (CCU) “Knowledge-intensive technologies and engineering”. Under the guidance of the CCU Director Viktor Rybalchenko production of new kinds of ceramics with unique qualities is arranged. Scientists from other universities come here to carry out research on the CCU installations to investigate materials and their properties.

The guided tour to laboratories of the faculty of chemical technology and biotechnology was held by successors of the scientific school of the Institute of Chemical Engineering named after L. A. Kostandov (MIChM). The Corresponding Member of the RAS in department of chemistry and materials sciences, Head of the Moscow Poly Department “Engineering ecology of the municipal system” Vladimir Sister told Acting Rector about the laboratory of high-performance machines. Engineers of the leading chemical enterprises of the country use installations, created by him. And Professor, an honored worker of science of the RF, a laureate of a number of state prizes Mikhail Generalov made a presentation of Department “Apparatus design and automation of technological processes” The faculty takes part in the movement “WorldSkills” and in organization of Olympiads of the National Technology Initiative.

The meeting ended with a visit to the Center for Technological Support of Education (CTSE), where the work on additive technologies and technologies of 3D printing is carried out with schoolchildren and students. Children are engaged in the art of technology at the highest level, by means of growing and printing their own models. Some of the works got awards at Moscow contests. Director of the CTSE Ilia Volnov presented the exposition Science-Art and told the Acting Rector about what can be learnt from artists.
