The Project Start for the students of humanities at the Moscow Poly

December 19 the finals of the contest the “Project Start” were held at the Moscow Poly. First-year students of humanities presented their projects of promoting educational programs of the Moscow Polytechnic University and their own entrepreneurial initiatives.

Since 2014 the Moscow Poly works on reducing the gap between education and industry by means of integrating the project activity in the educational process. Starting from the first course the students in interdisciplinary teams work on real projects of employers. Already for four years a contest for the Moscow Poly first-year students – the “Engineering Start” – is being held. From this year a tournament the “Project Start” is arranged for students of humanities. According to Director for Educational and Research Projects Gyuzel Sharipzianova, the “Project Start” is held in order to teach the students thinking in terms of the technological entrepreneurship. In addition, during preparation of their projects the students receive a necessary minimum of skills, which will be applied in the framework of the project activity starting from the second semester and until the end of studies.

The “Project Start” is designed for the students, studying economics, management, HR, state and municipal management, advertising and PR, law and economic security. During the semester the students formed the teams, distributed roles and prepared the projects in nominations “Development of a PR campaign for an educational program” and “Development of an entrepreneurial initiative”. Each nomination had its own requirements to results and criteria for quality evaluation. For PR campaign of educational programs the students wrote a road map and compiled a cost estimate within a fixed budget. For the second task the students chose a product or a service and developed a business plan for its promotion. Each project was accompanied with a presentation and a video. The works were evaluated by a jury, including, in addition to the Moscow Poly teachers, invited experts as well.

According to Professor of the Center for Project Activity Vladimir Nikolskiy, the most interesting project was presented by students from the training direction “Advertising and PR”. As an entrepreneurial initiative the students proposed to establish a student creativity agency and a lecture club. The creativity agency, according to the idea, would provide paid services in development and production of creative concepts, original advertising ideas, promotion of business projects, including startups. While the main objective of the lecture club would be to produce art-space for advertisers, where they could generate their ideas and exchange information.
