Volunteers from the Moscow Poly will represent Moscow at the World Championship WorldSkills 2019

December 11 the open Russian contest for the right to be a resource center for recruiting volunteers of the 45th World Championship in professional skills according to the WorldSkills standards, held in the framework of the “Volunteers Academy 2017”, ended in Kazan. As a result of the contest, the Moscow Poly Volunteer Center got an official status of a Resource Center for Recruiting Volunteers and will represent Moscow at the Championship in 2019.

In the finals of this contest the participants made a presentation of a resources center, where they spoke of their experience in arranging and holding the Championship. “In our project we told the audience that the WorldSkills format is far from new for us. Our university holds exams in this format on a regular basis, and just recently the Moscow Poly hosted the Open Qualifying Championship according to the WorldSkills Standards. Our volunteers helped in organization of the event, and, as well, worked on the finals of the First National Intercollegiate Championship”, - says Chief of the Volunteer Center Yuliya Kuznetsova. – “The students got invaluable experience, which will be useful to them in 2019”. She also mentioned that the objective of the center is not only in training volunteers, but, as well, in making the WorldSkills movement more popular among students and youth.

Twenty volunteer centers from 16 regions of Russia passed in the finals of the contest. Within five days the students attended numerous lectures and master classes, gaining the understanding of volunteers’ activities in the course of competitions. The participants were able to visit the regional championship “Young Professionals” of the WorldSkills Russia in Republic of Tatarstan and listen to Director General of the JSSS “Center for Development of Professional Competences” Emil Gubaidullin. In addition, the students could speak to champions of the WorldSkills and attend a lecture by Executive Director of the WorldSkills International David Home.

The correspondence and fulltime stages of the contest were held in Autumn of 2017, while the active inclusion of the centers in implementation of the volunteer program is planned from 2018. The first step will be signing of agreements on cooperation with the organizer of the championship JSSS “Directorate of Sports and Social Projects” and official inauguration of resource centers.
