A Science-Art exposition opened at the Moscow Poly

November 30 the inauguration ceremony of the technological and artistic exposition “Science-Art” of the festival “Education 2017” “Convergence of Art and Technology/Art-NBIC convergence” took place at the site of the Moscow Poly Faculty of Mechanical engineering. The festival is organized by the Center for Technological Support of Education (CTSE) of the Moscow Poly and is supported also by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Arts, and Department of Education of Moscow and, as well, is included in the parallel program of the 7th Moscow international biennale of modern art.

Acting Rector of the Moscow Poly Ivan Garbuzyuk opened the exposition, congratulated festival participants and its guests and emphasized importance of the topic under discussion – the unity of two directions in human creative activity: science and art. According to him, the future in front of us and our university graduates, is unusual; respectively, to get prepared to it we have to use equally unusual means.

Vice Rector for Academic and Research Work Yuriy Borovin and Director of Educational and Research Projects Gyuzel Sharipzianova made welcome addresses.

Curator of the festival – Head of the CTSE Ilia Volnov outlined the concept of combining science and art by means of joining the principles, laid in their basis: of saving in science and redundancy in art. These principles are combined in the engineering way of thinking, capable of joining the opposites. Ilia Volnov conducted a guided tour to the exposition where, among other things, the works by schoolchildren are presented, and he explained how principles of saving and redundancy are expressed in each of exhibits.

The evening ended with an open seminar and discussion of the concept of science and art combination, proposed by Ilia Volnov.

The main exposition of the festival is located in the halls of the first and second floors in building 4A and in the auditoriums 4202A and 4204A (the Moscow Poly campus at Avtozavodskaya, 16). The festival work is not limited in time, and in its framework a business program will be held, the events of which will be announced additionally.
