Master classes, lectures and guided tours to laboratories were arranged on the Open Day

November 25 an Open Day was held at the Moscow Poly faculties. Future applicants could attend profession-oriented master classes and guided tours to laboratories. Deans spoke of the training directions, while the admission commission employees presented admission rules for 2018.

The Open Day started in the same way at all sites of the university: with the exhibition of the best student and school projects. The guests saw electric bikes and racing cars, freezer for ice-cream cooking “Russian Ice-Cream Machine”, a model of the future “Lada 2050”, a boat on solar batteries of the student team “Manta Ray” and other projects, created in the framework of the project activity.

Deans and Heads of educational programs made presentations of the faculties. Applicants and their parents could learn about the education system of the Moscow Poly, internships and employment, extra-curricular activities, and, also, about practice in well-known companies: “Kaspersky Lab”, “1C”, Unilever, BMW, “EuroChem” and others. The admission commission employees presented the rules of enrollment to the university in 2018.

Communication with applicants was built in a question-and-answer format. Participants wanted to know how to get to internships in other countries, what exams must foreign applicants pass to enter the university, and what exams are for those who have finished a college. In addition, there were questions about training directions. For example, the event guests wanted to know what principally differs the Transportation faculty from the Mechanical engineering faculty. “At the transport faculty the issues of creation and designing of vehicles are studied”, - tells the audience Deputy Dean for Development of the transport faculty Tatiana Rozova. – “these are trucks and passenger cars, motorcycles and tractors. Also, our students explore how engines for vehicles are created and work at designer solutions of the interior of the salon or a car body. A vivid example is Lada 2050”. At the engineering faculty students are taught to create and manufacture machine parts, and, as well, what methods can be applied to design these parts.

After the official part was over, the guests had a guided tour, master classes, lectures and business games. For example, in the main building of the university (at the Bolshaya Semenovskaya St) the applicants were shown what happens when a rose is put in the liquid nitrogen, attended the master class in stamping and artistic molding and were told about prospects of the training direction “Energy”. In the building at the Pavla Korchagina St. participants could define their future specialization during a business game “I am choosing a profession”, take an exam in English, and attend lectures on marketing communications and economic safety. During the Open Day at the Higher School of Printing and Media Industry they were told about peculiarities of studies in each of four institutes of the School: of graphics and book art, named after Favorsky, of communications and media business, of publishing and journalism, and of printed media and information technologies. In the end of the Open Day the Moscow Poly teachers discussed together with senior schoolchildren the tasks of the mock Unifies state exams in physics and math.

The next Open Day will be held at the Faculty of information technologies on the 9th of December. Master classes by the Moscow Poly teachers and representatives of the partner companies are prepared for the applicants, as well as a meeting with Heads of educational programs.
